Top and Bottom! Put an End to it!

The strings on the guitar are EADGBE. Notice how there are 2 E strings. One is thick and the other is thin.

But when someone refers to the top of the guitar they are referring to the string closest to the floor (the thin one). On the contrast, the thick string, which is closest to the ceiling, is the bottom of the guitar. I see my students constantly get these mixed up, and feel its an important lesson for everyone.
