You can’t always go around saying “Life is Lame”. Life is a blessing, a journey. Its something that you embark upon. This adventure is ENTIRELY made up of everything that YOU want it to be. A student wrote an email to me saying he thought everything in life was lame except music. I disagreed in my reply. Since music is a part of life, and vice versa, then Life is amazing. Everything you do is a reflection of your music, and all your music is a reflection of your life.

So tackle life in the same way you put every ounce of drive, passion, and love into your music. Smile, be happy, play guitar, meet people, do everything. Learn every scale, do every hobby, meet every person - because the richer and more complete your life is, then the richer and more complete your music becomes.

Music is an emotion, an adventure… and so is life - so don’t be Lame - your an amazing person. Just be you.

I read about this story first on Hear and Play.com’s website, which I was told through their Twitter update. Mr. Rogers was an amazing person. He cared so much about teaching people about life, music, and each other. Few realize that another lesson to learn from him did not come from any of his episodes. Rather, his biggest lessons came from what he had to go through in order to male the show possible. I wanted to repost this because I think its important.

Daily Motivation’s Youtube Page uploaded this inspirational video. He did all he could to make his vision become a reality. He knew he had to help others, and he knew it woldn’t be easy. When times are tough you have to stand up for what is right. Below is the video of Mister Rogers doing all he can…. not for himself - but for YOU!

“If you’ve got a vision… an idea for something… or a dream that seems bigger than life — you can do it! People who have brought about big change were common folks with uncommon persistence, work ethics, and steadfast commitment. There’s alot of inspirational video on Youtube, but there’s also alot of inspirational stories in your own life. Think of what you’ve had to overcome, or maybe something a friend had to fight. Think about that, and you’ll realize you have what it takes. You have drive, passion, and care to bring people together and to conquer your dreams and vision.

I’ll end this post in the same way Mr. Rogers did: “You’ve made this a special day just by you being you. There’s no person in the whole world like you, and I like you just the way you are.”

What I try to explain to people is that Learning one instrument is like learning them all. tey all follow the same language, and rules. Obviously, the playing technique for them is differen, but all in all, it the same language.

So watch this and also at the 10 minute mark is a huge shout section that we all give. Using the power of Ustream.TV and Twitter I called my community over and recorded everyone at my Ustream.TV Music Show

So I’m thrilled to announce that I’m part of the DonorsChoose.org Blogger Challenge. For those who aren’t familiar with it its a charity that helps raise money for books, art supplies, field trips, and other resources for others, and they have already helped 75,000 people!

They already have names on board again this year - below are some:

Robert Scoble ( http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/viewChallenge.html?id=19036 )

New York City Mom’s Blog ( http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/viewChallenge.html?id=19023 )

Tech Crunch ( http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/viewChallenge.html?id=19052&category=14&zone=0 )

School Supplies Challenge ( http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/viewChallenge.html?id=18969 )

I will be supporting the Music Section of the site - so I’ll do my best to raise money for other Music Education programs, and ithers who need our help! This should be ALOT of fun and I hope we can all stick together and make this happen. We’re a great community here, so it should be a blast, and all for a great cause! So here’s the Widget to donate to!

And in case your interested… here the FULL background on the 2008 DONORSCHOOSE.ORG:

In October of 2007, top bloggers competed to see who could rally the most support for public school classrooms. Blog readers gave $420,000 to classroom projects benefitting 75,000 students in low-income communities.

The winner in all this while raising $100,000 for public school classrooms was Tomato Nation.

Fred Wilson, a renowned NYC venture capitalist, raised $18,000 through his blog, aVC. His success inspired TechCrunch to declare that “Fred Wilson needs to be stopped,” which in turn prompted this post: “Arrington Throws Down the Gauntlet And I Reply.”

A biologist at the University of Minnesota raised $15,000 in 36 hours through his blog, Pharyngula.  He asked his readers to donate “For the honor of the godless.”

Each of these blogs participated in the DonorsChoose.org Blogger Challenge, a platform which enables bloggers to rally their readers to support specific educational projects in public schools.  Google announced an award for the bloggers who raise the most moneyYahoo announced an award for the bloggers who inspire the most readers to give Six Apart announced an award for the bloggers who helped the most students.

The contest began as a philanthropic clash of the titans. Engadget wrote “there are times to get serious.” TechCrunch answered with tossed its hat in the ring on the first day of the competition and came out swinging a few days later.  Kara Swisher of All Thing D announced her entry into what she termed a “Blogger Charity Smackdown”; she then tapped her two children for support (video on this post is hilarious) and secured the endorsement of Arianna Huffington. Other well-known participants include LifeHacker, Apartment Therapy, Anil Dash, and Lockhart Steele, the former managing editor of Gawker who is now dedicated to Eater and Curbed.

The leaderboard rankings defied predictions that hugely trafficked blogs like Engadget and TechCrunch would easily win the competition. In fact, blogs with small but engaged readerships demonstrated an exponentially greater power to mobilize readers.

With Tomato Nation posts such as Whoa,” the blog’s author, Sarah Bunting, inspired over 1,000 readers—most of limited means—to donate $100,000 through the Tomato Nation challenge page on DonorsChoose.org.  We’re conferring with academics and scouring the Web, but all indications are that this represents the largest philanthropic mobilization by a single blogger in the history of the Internet.

Also surprising is the breakout performance of Fred Wilson, whose position atop the Technology Leaderboard was described as a freakish kung fu grip” by rival Kara Swisher. His strategy for engaging readers is laid out in this post, and in a prior post, he mused:

The strangest underline to that question is the performance of Pharyngula, written by an associate professor at University of Minnesota. Whereas a front-page post on Engadget generated $5,000 in donations, this Pharyngula post generated $15,000:

Now you donate to my DonorsChoose challenge. For the honor of the godless. One of those pathetic appeasers has made this an issue of the charity of atheists, has accused us of being ‘cheap bastards’, and claims that his weak-kneed, wobbly camp of wooly-headed apologists for delusion are more generous than we are, and more interested in promoting science education… Now this means we have to fire up and give him a good kick in the ass as we pass him by.  Let’s donate now.”

Here are some cool topics for the Charity!

Music, Art/Music, Philly, Music/Art Projects in Philly, Music Literacy, Digital/Media Literacy.

Walt Ribeiro Trashbag man Green Festival

Originally uploaded by Walt Ribeiro

While I was at the Philadelphia Green Festival a few weeks ago I came across this guy. He was dressed in trashbags in order to promote Recycling. Good for him!

There were booths there representing Greenable, Greenpeace and more. The partners for the Festival were

Yoga Living Magazine, CW Philly, Gpen, Silver Marketing, and Montgomery News.

The Green Fest was filled with a bunch of vendors and companies from all over who had things to contribute to their customers. It was also sponsored by:
Comcast, DVRPC, DCNR, and Dhyana Yoga :) Independents Coffee, Philly Carshare, TorkUSA, Septa, Sun and Earth, and Zipcar Philly.

The Philly Greenfest even has a MySpace Page now! Haha Awesome! I didn’t see anything at the Festival promoting the new Prius or energy efficient cars like that - but perhaps at the Prius or energy efficient cars like that - but perhaps at the rate things are going, maybe next year.
