I’ve said it before: “New Media is magical - not because of the technology, but because of the people.”

PCPGH3 was no exception. It was a blast, met amazing people, learned cool things, and got to become part of a beautiful city for a weekend!

Here’s what I learned about Pittsburgh:

This is important because its what keeps these things going. It allows us to enjoy the days and creates a stronger community. I was thrilled to get the VIP package for the event, which included some neat take-homes, and I’ll be checking out the sponsors.

Making Connections at Podcamp Pittsburgh!

I always travel alone, I feel like that I move too quick to have others hold me behind, so of course I took a flight to Pittsburgh not knowing what to expect, which is the fun of it, too - It forces me to come out of my shell, meet people, invest in the conversations, and ultimately be independent. So I was thrilled when I also bumped into Brandice, Dave Mansuedo, and Jonny Goldstein and Chris Brogan again from IndyHall and BlogWorld respectively. Those two events were great, and I immediately began enjoying the Expo the second I entered the building. I also got to meet for the first time GeekStar, KathleenLD, Franklin McMahon, Grace Piper, Charles hope and Nathan King of Blip.tv, Jim Russell, and tons of others. Alot of the sessions were about Twitter, Wordpress, Video editing, and much more. the transition of Mainstream media into ‘New Media’ is amazing. The way to get the most out of these is to become a part of the enviroment. Go out at night, attend sessions, meet people, and have a blast! I also presented at 3 very well received sessions, which I’ll be blogging about tomorrow.

The Schwag was cool, too - Shirts, folder, pads, and even BIG ups to Jason Cable who made killer @PCPGH pens! HAHA

Networking, laughing, and learning!

Don’t forget to also check out OMG Pittsburgh. Its a neat idea where everyone who contributes to PCPGH is able to now come together and collaborate on the website. Thse who sign up are automatic admins, and therefore can blog, etc.

The next PCPGH meet-up is Nov 19 at the Firehouse Lounge in the Strip (2216 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15222). So if you’re in the area you should definitely stop by. I can’t make it, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t!

Life is Lame
OK so here it is! Last week we learned the notes, this week we start building Chords A, D, and E in order to write Songs! Rip out that instrument, turn up the volume, skip dinner, and GET READY! It all starts here. Any music questions let me know!

You can’t always go around saying “Life is Lame”. Life is a blessing, a journey. Its something that you embark upon. This adventure is ENTIRELY made up of everything that YOU want it to be. A student wrote an email to me saying he thought everything in life was lame except music. I disagreed in my reply. Since music is a part of life, and vice versa, then Life is amazing. Everything you do is a reflection of your music, and all your music is a reflection of your life.

So tackle life in the same way you put every ounce of drive, passion, and love into your music. Smile, be happy, play guitar, meet people, do everything. Learn every scale, do every hobby, meet every person - because the richer and more complete your life is, then the richer and more complete your music becomes.

Music is an emotion, an adventure… and so is life - so don’t be Lame - your an amazing person. Just be you.
